About Richard and Stephanie...

Richard and Stephanie have lived in the California foothills area for many years. Their travels, experiences and adventure tours are numerous.

For Richard, owning a restaurant and bar for nearly 30 years yielded a vast amount of business experience and people-exposure to practice his degree in Business Administration, Marketing and Accounting. It also lent a need to get away—far away—traveling to various countries and continents of the world where one could become exposed to the sights, sounds, customs, traits, religions and behaviors of other cultures and societies. Richard has lead tours to China several times between 1990 and the present and is currently setting up a group for spring 2009. As a fund raising effort for the [non-profit] Joss House Museum and Chinese History Center, these tours have exposed many to the wonders, mystery and beauty of China at an incredibly low price. Richard is currently the president of the museum’s board and is the founder of the museum itself, having donated the site, building and many of its artifacts.

For Stephanie, living 20 years in Alaska —much of it in the remote wilds of the “bush”—wrought many of her adventurous life experiences. Among them were doing such things as running an air-taxi company, delivering mail, transporting goods and people, or making air drops of supplies to hikers and hunters—all from the small, maneuverable bush planes. She has lived the subsistent bush life-style, scooped salmon from a fish wheel on the Copper River; accompanied hunters on horseback excursions into the Wrangle Saint Elias and the Brooks Range wilderness areas; fished the many bodies of water from Kodiak, to Katella, to Cordova and the interior rivers along the way in areas inhabited mainly by other wild animals and accessible primarily by float or bush plane. She has tended bar, waited tables, cooked for hunters and tourists alike, ran her own trading goods business and has expedited for a mining company—all the while maintaining her faith in God, a good sense of humor and an ever radiant, optimistic outlook on life. Now back in Northern California, she has a practice as a certified massage therapist where she practices many modalities of massage utilizing our 16' Mongolian yurt as her treatment room, but specializes in Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. She also enjoys pursuing her passions of Hula and Belly dancing.
